Nextalk is a wide area Digital two way radio network. Nextalk uses cutting edge, state of the art equipment from Kenwood Nexedge digital radio platform.
Nextalk was started in 2009 and was the forerunner in digital radio in South Africa and the first Kenwood Nexedge Network in the southern hemisphere.
Nextalk is a holder of an ECNS licence and relevant spectrum licence. The network comprises of a 12 site network with a licensed 8GHZ IP backbone, with redundancy built into the network and IP backbone, so as to assure the network runs 99% of the time.
Nextalk has the most advanced radio network compared to any other network currently in the Western Cape, with coverage from Cape Town to as far as Vredenberg, Robertson, and Caledon. Nextalk is one of the few networks that have coverage in Sea Point, Camps Bay and Hout bay.
Nextalk offers built-in security against casual electronic eavesdropping via its NXDN® digital air interface protocol. It also includes voice & data scrambling for security against external threats while providing confidentiality within the same system and talk group. Nextalk can automatically validate individual subscriber radio hardware by ESN rather than changing the system's unit and group ID in the event a radio is lost, stolen, or removed permanently.
